Solving the Diabetes Problem in Health Care Systems

Research shows high glucose levels affect the body’s ability to heal. This results in more complications, longer hospital stays, and increased healthcare costs. But with early detection and effective treatment, it is possible to speed the healing process, reduce complications and change lives.

What do we do?

  • teach those who have diabetes to take control of their health to fight the disease
  • help hospitals identify patients with diabetes and manage their care effectively
  • provide tools physicians can use in planning optimal treatment for their patients
  • enhance the expertise of diabetes educators
  • provide programs and training for a variety of healthcare providers
  • assist payors in effectively managing the care of their members to improve quality while controlling costs.

Diabetes Epidemic

“Dramatic new evidence signals the unfolding of a diabetes epidemic. With obesity on the rise, we can expect the sharp increase in diabetes rates to continue. Unless these dangerous trends are halted, the impact on our nation’s health and medical care costs will be overwhelming.”

-Jeffrey P Koplan, MD, MPH
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Experience Counts

The medical professionals at the ediba® Diabetes Center of Excellence spent years developing specialized programs that have proven to be effective in diabetes management.

Beginning with a single hospital outpatient program in 1996, the ediba® system grew to impact inpatient and home care. This proved so successful in improving both quality and financial performance, the program expanded to 14 other hospitals - and all achieved positive results.

Now, the ediba® Seven Step program has been fine tuned and streamlined to allow other hospitals across the nation to implement these changes and realize remarkable results.
