About the Seven Step Program

For the past nine years, the ediba® Seven Step Program has proven effective in enhancing hospital diabetes care while improving the health system’s bottom line.

Studies show that up to 40% of hospital inpatients may have diabetes. By identifying it early, and managing it effectively, hospitals can reduce complications, shorten lengths of stay and improve revenues through accurate coding and billing.

The ediba® team has now assisted 16 hospitals in achieving ADA-recognition, worked with 15 hospitals to implement all or portions of the Seven Step Program, and trained more than 6,000 healthcare professionals in effective diabetes management.

The Seven Step Program was previously available only through intensive on-site involvement of the ediba® team. But now you can attend a workshop to learn proven techniques to give you the ability to implement this program at your facility.

The 2004 American College of Endocrinology Consensus Statement states:

"To minimize adverse outcomes, blood sugar should be controlled below 110 mg/dL in the ICU and to a similar level before meals outside the ICU. Maximum glucose levels should not exceed 180 mg/dL in non-critical care units.”
